Aroma of fresh, earthy piny hops and sweet lightly toasted caramel malt. Body starts with some mild sweetness drying out more toward an earthier toasty caramel maltiness and thinner bittersweet finish. Needs some more sweet malty balance. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 13, 2007 Bomber...really a double IPA, this is very similar to Bell’s Two-Hearted Ale in flavor, moderate hops with an herbal character, very rich and silky overall. Red and cloudy in appearance. I give this a very high rating. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 11, 2007 Growler. Slightly hazy dark amber body. Off-white head is fully receding. The aroma has a perfumed element I don’t care for, but other than that it’s very nice. Plenty of aromatic hops, with a touch of ascorbic acid notes, grapefruit, hints of pine. Flavor is explosive, lightly funky and mildly acidic. Mildly sweet and moderately bitter. Odd. Plenty of fruit and soft malt. Finishes lightly dry and bitter. Mouthfeel is biting, softly/lightly carbonated and light-medium in body. Skyview (4057), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 10, 2007 Sampled from growler at the RBSG ’07 Grand Tasting. Pours a clear coppery amber brew with a thick fizzy white head that dissolves with good lacing. Aroma of sour dough bread-like malt, citrus peel with pine, and a touch of herbal spice. Taste is more citrus and pine hops with some apricots in the background. Palate is medium bodied, carbonated and rough in the back of the tongue. Finish is bitter during and even long afterwards. hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 7, 2007 Copper with a good tall white head for such a small sample. Smells like a very good IPA with some fruity citrus aromas. Bitter through the mid-palate and tasty overall. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
