Oct 21, 2007 Sampled this one on draught at the Capitol City Carnival 2007. Pours to a deep amber color, with a thick, creamy, white head, and a good carbonation. The nose is excellent, with lots of good toasty and nutty malt aromas. The palate is firm, and clean, with good nutty and toasty malt flavor, on a round, clean, body. This beer finishes with more good toast and nuts up front, then ends with just the right amount of herbal hop bitterness to balance out the great malt flavors of this beer. Well done, local example of marzen. Well worth trying if you ever find yourself in Richmond during Oktoberfest season.

Oct 9, 2004 (CapCityOktoberfest04) Clear amber body with minimal head. Aroma is mild sweet, grassy, earthy. Taste is medium sweet, earhty/grassy, very flavorful. Light-medium body with nice crispness.

Sep 18, 2005 Shockoe Brew Fest. Medium amber, nice white head. Cookie and floral aroma. Clean flavor matched the nose, light bodied but not thin. Not bad at all. Touch of a bite from carbonation.

Sep 20, 2009 on tap-pours a thin white head and copper color. Aroma is sweet light/medium malt-caramel, some spice hops. Taste is sweet light/medium malt-caramel/bready, some spice hops. First 1/3 had a detractor that came thru in the after taste, a sourness/sharpness. This was less apparent for the next 2/3, so 3.3
