Well balanced nose, mildly sweet, light grapefruit, biscuit and mild caramel. Grapefruit comes closer to the fore in the flavor. Decent, if somewhat boring beer. aracauna (2392), Georgia, USA

Moderate hop bite in finish. Good session beer. Quality, but won’t wear out the palate or its welcome. LiebeBier (793), Annapolis, Maryland, USA

Small head with a copper color. The flavor was sweet with a moderate amount of hops. I think their bottle beer is much better than what you get on draft at the pub. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 11, 2006 Cloudy goldish brown body with a light white head. Very heavy caramel and buttersotch aroma, frankly a bit too much butter for my tastes. Bland body with not much in the way of taste, some very lite hops are evident. Cool ending that again has way too much in the way of butter. starfireming (309), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 2, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. Clear light orange color with a thin white head. Very similar to the golden ale in that there is a sprucy hop nose and cereal grain malt flavor. However, the hops are more prominent and bring with them a bitterness that balances nicely with the touch of sweetness. Foxbush (468), Richmond, Virginia, USA

It was the name of an old brewery in Richmond, Va. This was a three pack of Old Nick, Old Nasty and Griffin. There was an article in the Times Dispatch that tweaked my curiosity to try these beer. I tried the Pale Ale first. The head fomation was modest and white. The color was an amber with a slight haze. The taste was of a mild pale ale. The hoppiness is present but not as smooth as others that I have had. The aftertaste has the bitterness of pale ales.
