Maybe if the brewer had not tried to pass this off as a ’premium red ale’ I wouldn’t mind it. It’s good if there’s nothing else decent on offer - and possibly better than Alexander Keith’s. At least this doesn’t say ’ale’ anywhere on the label! JaBier (1223), Capital City, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 23, 2009 12oz bottle. Clear red pour with a 1 inch beige head. Huge sweet caramel aroma with a bit of roast. Sweet malt and creamy caramel flavor that makes me wonder whether it has corn in it. I remember liking this brew before I liked craft beer and I’m glad to see (smell and taste) that it’s still something I don’t mind drinking. Fred82 (399), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Nose is veggy and grainy. Some sweetness. Taste is is a bit spicy and a tiny bit fruity. Carbonation is soft. TheDoctor (51), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 17, 2009 On tap. Pours a rich amber color with small beige head. I do not get the supposed metallic taste everyone else does, maybe it’s there to a very slight extent, but it’s by no means a big factor. Malty and fairly sweet, with some dryness. By no means a great beer but a serviceable beer and I don’t get too hesitant about settling for a pint of this when there is little else on offer. troyc (1175), Lubbock, Texas, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 5, 2009 [Bottle] Pours a clear amber color with a small amount of off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel and grains. Taste is rather malty, but includes a metallic finish that wasn’t very appealing. Light body and rather unimpressive. vianney (8), Saint Laurent, Quebec, Canada does not count | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 22, 2009 Pours a dark red color with a foamy head, taste of sweet malt, great aftertaste. theteniron (10), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
