"Winter Ale". Ridgeway produce two versions of Bad Elf "Winter Ale" - one at 4.5%, and the other at 6%. There is a separate listing for the 4.5%.
Olde England meets the New World in this strong, warming golden ale, brewed by Peter Scholey. Master brewer for the late and much-lamented Brakspear Brewery of Henley-on-Thames, England, Peter started his own brewing operations in 2003. Bad Elf is a hop-lover’s dream, balancing a generous amount of famous English malt with an astounding 45 ounces of fresh hops – including American Cascade – per barrel.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of joergen. Slightly hazy, pale amber golden with an off-white head. Fresh, citrusy aroma. Medium-bodied, sweetish fruit notes and very distinct citrus notes. Dry, hoppy finish. Quite lovely really. 110108

500 ml. bottle received as a Christmas gift. Pour is orange - amber clear with an off-white head. Aroma is baking cookies, some hay and an almost chemical sweetness. Taste is the malt sweet malt backbone with a nice clean, crisp hop finish. The chemical from the nose was not apparent in the taste. Palate is a touch watery.

Bad Elf Winter ale. Shelton brothers 6% Bottle. [Great two day tasting session @ Papsoe] Average fizzy off-white head that mostly diminished. Clear flat looking body with a golden color. Fair display of lacework. Aroma of light grassy, caramel, grain and light floral. Over the palate notes of grass and toasted malt. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and light dry texture. Light sweet and bitter flavor. Light dry and bitter finish.

(Bottle) Pours a light amber color with very little head. Aroma of light hops and a moderate amount of sweet caramel. Good malty backbone introduces toffee and caramel notes. Crisp hoppy taste as well. Relatively good mouthfeel and good lacing as well. Better than expected.

Bottle. Pours a golden yellow in color with a smallish, pure white head. It has a lightly floral nose with a tiny zing. The flavor is very malty with a good bit of hops. There is also a spicy bit to add interest. Not too shabby.
