Olde England meets the New World in this strong, warming golden ale, brewed by Peter Scholey. Master brewer for the late and much-lamented Brakspear Brewery of Henley-on-Thames, England, Peter started his own brewing operations in 2003. Bad Elf is a hop-lover’s dream, balancing a generous amount of famous English malt with an astounding 45 ounces of fresh hops – including American Cascade – per barrel.

Bottle conditioned, 500ml from bellingers Garage, Grove, Oxon. Orange gold with white head. Quite a fullish beer, honeyed with a sweetish malt then a pretty decent hop impact, not over the top, but enough for a drying, citric note. Fresh tasting for a BCA, pretty decent.

Had as a part of a Christmas mini-tour at Old Chicago. Another decent beer from their funny line, but nothing amazing.

Bottle. Poured a murky orange-brown in color with virtually no head. Aroma was that of molasses and bread like malts with a light hoppy and doughy yeast scent.Tasted slightly bitter with a nice hoppy flavor and a hint of molasses and citrus. The aftertaste was sweet wit a touch of grapefruit which lasted a short while. Mouthfeel was full bodied and creamy with light carbonation. Overall a good beer Very Tasty!!

Clear golden orange with a thin white head, sticky sheet of lacing. Aroma of grassy hops, light sweet malts, fruit and honey. Taste is more sweet malts, floral honey.

Pours a clear, golden color topped with a thick white head. Aroma has a lot of floral hop nose with some light citrus and spicy hop notes hiding behind the bready malt notes. Flavor has a light citrus hops note, bread malt flavor, slightly sweet apple notes mixed in there as well as a light alcohol presence. The beer has just enough malt to carry the hops backbone but tends to feel a bit light at the end. Overall a solid British beer offering a highly hopped beer without the barrage of hops that overtakes the entire beers profile.
