Clear amber, medium white head, very noticeable lack of carbonation, good lacing. Creamy mouthfeel, quite bitter. Starts moderately bitter and somewhat malty. Finishes more bitter with bark and grass notes. It’s 100% beer, with little extraneous flavors. There’s absolutely no mistaking that it is English. Decent, but a little too bitter without character for my taste. rader58 (195), Leawood, Kansas, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Dec 6, 2009 500 ml. bottle. Pours a a light gold orange with fizzy off white head. Smells of corn syrup, butter, malt. Taste of bitter hop balance with sweet malt. Not typically what I consider a wintry beer, but not bad. Slightly watery, drinkable, would be good with food. rosenbergh (998), Helsinki, Finland

Slightly hazy golden colour with average frothy white head. Mild fruity/floral hoppy aroma with grapefruit and tiny hints of caramel sweetness. Fruity/floral hoppy flavour with some bitter ash, saltwarer and hints of metal. This pretty good but I prefer the 4.5% version. douglas88 (1679), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Pours a clear golden color with a medium white head. A sweet hoppy aroma, light caramel and malt. The flavor is sort of like a hoppy English Strong Ale; earthy hops and light caramel. Similar to the Very Bad Elf. Nice and drinkable. berkshirejohn (1836), Bracknell, Berkshire, England

Gold with a loose white head; fresh, hoppy aroma, hints of grapefruit from the Cascade and some pine resin; crisp, but rather thin, flavour, some biscuity malts and some delicate hops; then building to a robust, spicy, hop finish. Very, very, easy drinking. MiP (9162), Sønderborg, Denmark
