Intense fruity-malt aroma dominated by pear, grapefruit, and pencil lead. The flavor is out of this world - dominated by the extreme amount of hops used for this beer, with plenty of malt showing through as well, all combining for a truly unique blend that is not unlike the zippiness of V8 juice! Excellent carbonation and very full-bodied mouthfeel. Extremely bitter, bready, citrus aftertaste (all taken in a positive sense). I realize my high rating may be partly a result of my personal penchants for high carbonation and excessively hopped beer - but I stand by it 100%. The main downside is that Bad Elf isn’t cheap - $5.49 for 1pt .9oz (maybe to pay for the 45 ounces of hops used in each barrel). dwyerpg (2553), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Taste seems like an over-hopped pilsener more than an ale to me, must be that funky English American Cascade hops. A nice drinkable beer and a good dry finish. nathan30533 (166), Dahlonega, Georgia, USA

Good aroma and taste of hops. Very smooth. Golden in color. What I look for in a beer. Great brew. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 19, 2004 0.5l Bottle. Not sure why this is so lowly rated on this site. It is a hop-lovers brew, and I thought moste here were hop-lovers. Anyway, golden and clear, with a perfect thick, lasting head. Piney, grapefruity, hoppy sweet aroma. Explosive hoppy flavor and bitter finish. Some malty body and malty sweetiness underneath. Real Nice! beerking99 (199), USA

Pours a dark gold, very clear, with a small but persistent white head. Aroma is crystal malt, with subtle butterscotch and hints of earthy yeastiness, all mingling with rustic British hops. Flavor is strong caramel upfront, balanced with a pleasant hoppy bite, and with some distinct but pleasant butterscotch in the background. Finish is very clean, with a hoppy aftertaste leaving you wanting more. Alcohol is strong, but blends well and is not at all unpleasant. Overall, a very well balanced beer.
