Sampled during Cellar’s final beer tasting in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear dark brown brew with a creamy beige head that slowly dissipates to a thin ring. Aroma of roasted dark malt, some prunes, a hint of yeast and some brown sugar. Taste is medium bodied, flavors of roasted dark malt, prunes, some coffee and chocolate. Finish is semi-dry with a toasted dark malt and chocolate aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a spare, rocky, off-white head, mostly diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (molasses, toffee), light hops (celery), average yeast (leather) with notes of prune, dates, licorice, and medicine. Medium bodied, thin texture, soft carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

The aroma is like burnt malt with cream and coffee. The appearance is black with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is too thin for a stout. I am not very fond of this one.
