Pours a slightly hazy orange/light brown with a generous bubly head that lasted through most of the glass. Pleasant but light floral aroma. There was also some sweetness to the aroma, however, when you taste the beer there is no sweet flavor at all, which I found interesting. Flavor was mostly hops with a distinct bitter finish. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 29, 2006 From a 500ml. narrow neck brown bottle with a blurb about the bitter on the back label along with coded lot/package number.
Made a good appearance, poured a hazy golden hued orange with a foamy white head that settled into a thin lacing, minimal amount of sticking, moderate carbonation overall.
Had a floral and lemon grassy nose with a little earthy, grainy biscuitiness in the background.
A crisp, smooth light bodied mouth feel, good drinkability.
Floral and lemon grassy hop taste, a little orange zestiness as well, a dry grainy maltiness, a faint hint of butteriness and a dry lemon grassy, floral and subtle sugary malty finish.
A really nice English Bitter, one of the better beers from Ridgeway, well worth trying.

In appearance this is a dark golden ale with a large off white frothy head.
Aroma is rather subdued, slightly earthy, maltiness, some tinges of hoppiness.
Malty , earthy tastes dominate, then a slight hoppy tatse and a longer lasting hop after tate, perhaps from the fresh hops.
Pretty thin on the palte, well carbonated.
A good drinkable bitter, but at the price we pay over here i could not say it was a session ale..but if in Oxford this would keep my intrest for several pints. RaginCajun (284), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 26, 2006 Inviting hop aroma, although it could be a little stronger. Nice pour, brown/amber body with a medium sized head. Despite having a lot of taste, this beer is extremely easy to drink. I’m definitely a fan. AndreasJaeger (101), Helsingborg, Sweden

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 11, 2006 Much better than their Ivanhoe, had warm w/a faint aroma. Taste is dry and hoppy. A nice ale, really reminds me of like an American Pale Ale than a bitter. Good. ELPADRINO (70), The Woodlands, Texas, USA
