Commercial Description:
If Maris Otter malt is the body of our beer then hops are its spirit. Each year we choose our hops not just by farm but by individual garden and time of harvest. One older variety, Challenger, and one new,Boadicea, used as unprocessed whole leaf hops. Extravagant, perhaps, but delicious.

Bottle. Amber body, big white head with good retention and lace, fruity, hoppy nose. Well balanced malt and hops, has that Maris Otter character, rather thin, quaffable.

This is bright golden, bubbly, with a thick active white head that foams up big and fast, regardless of efforts to keep it under control. The head lasts and stays thick to the end, leaving thick, nice lacing that covers the glass to the very end. The aroma is mild, faint yeasty bread and definite lemon peel citrus. The taste is bready malt up front with mild sweetness, rapidly giving way to mildly bitter hoppiness, and a hoppy, floral finish leaving a pleasant floral aftrertaste. It is crisp, with a fairly full yet lively feel. It is very refreshing, smooth, balanced, exceedingly drinkable and tasty. The first sip seems kind of disappointing, but its true full character takes over after that, making it very satisfying.

Bottle. Bright, brassy gold color with lots of tiny bubbles that lead to a large rocky off-white head. Fragrant hop bouquet with hints of honey and jasmine. Tangy toasted malt flavor balanced by a pleasing dry hop finish. Very smooth and flavorful. The clinging Belgian lace lasts right to the end. Overall, a nice example of a Bitter Ale.

Bottled@SBWF2007. Golden colour, huge bubbly head. Aroma is bitter hoppy with a nice fruity tweak to it. Flavour is hoppy, slightly wooden and quite salty in the finish. Different bitter.

Bottle Code: F09 004

Golden/amber, lightly hazed, under a large white head of soap suds. Aroma is floral and lemony with a hop presence that rings of Fuggles (I can’t recall hearing of "Bodicea hops" before now, but I think I may like them). Light acetone. Smooth and satisfying, with a lightly honeyed, malty base leading to a lemon-pepper bitterness in its finish.

Nice head and lace. The aroma has a very unpleasant note, at bit sewer like. Luckily this isn’t found in the flavour, that has quite a few shades of notes. Green and spice-like, a bit of pine and a nice bitterness, that grows and develops in the finish. A bit different from most.
