Well balanced malt and hops, has that Maris Otter character, rather thin, quaffable. Wulfstan (509), California, USA

The head lasts and stays thick to the end, leaving thick, nice lacing that covers the glass to the very end. The aroma is mild, faint yeasty bread and definite lemon peel citrus. The taste is bready malt up front with mild sweetness, rapidly giving way to mildly bitter hoppiness, and a hoppy, floral finish leaving a pleasant floral aftrertaste. It is crisp, with a fairly full yet lively feel. It is very refreshing, smooth, balanced, exceedingly drinkable and tasty. The first sip seems kind of disappointing, but its true full character takes over after that, making it very satisfying. gripweed57 (19), Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA

Bright, brassy gold color with lots of tiny bubbles that lead to a large rocky off-white head. Fragrant hop bouquet with hints of honey and jasmine. Tangy toasted malt flavor balanced by a pleasing dry hop finish. Very smooth and flavorful. The clinging Belgian lace lasts right to the end. Overall, a nice example of a Bitter Ale. oh6gdx (9104), Vasa, Finland

Golden/amber, lightly hazed, under a large white head of soap suds. Aroma is floral and lemony with a hop presence that rings of Fuggles (I can’t recall hearing of "Bodicea hops" before now, but I think I may like them). Light acetone. Smooth and satisfying, with a lightly honeyed, malty base leading to a lemon-pepper bitterness in its finish.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 3, 2007 Nice head and lace. The aroma has a very unpleasant note, at bit sewer like. Luckily this isn’t found in the flavour, that has quite a few shades of notes. Green and spice-like, a bit of pine and a nice bitterness, that grows and develops in the finish. A bit different from most. cab (863), Denmark
