Commercial Description:
"It turned out to be a case of mistaken identity, of course - wrong place at the wrong time...but Claus was soon back on the street with the polite apologies of the authorities - no questions asked. All's well that ends well, surely, but still, the reporters wanted to know...it takes its toll, doesnt't it? "Indeed" sighed Claus, "my elf is going crazy, and I fear I shall soon go crazy as well" And with that he hoisted a great flagon of his favorite barleywine-style ale, silently contemplating the future and straining to remember why he got into this particular line of work in the first place.

Very nicely balanced ... wow! crazy well hidden alcohol ... a wad of cookie dough ... pleasing aroma, makes me want to trounce a maitre de ... dark maple syrup smell .. one of those beers that makes you wonder if the abv is truly what they say .. sweet plum, sugar flavours .. not a bad effort!

Decent sized bright white head of fine bubbles. Looking at this as it was being poured I do not have high hopes for this "barley wine". Very thin body. Sweet candy aroma with some sweet tarts, dusty attic, and any semblence of sweet cherry, which appears upon swirling, disappears almost immediately. Color is a clear golden orange. Sweet and thin with a dry palate. Alcohol does not show up until late. Sweet malts and more candy. Pretty weak flavor. Finishes clean and dry with a lingering warming. Again another dissapointment from this brewer. very easy drinking though.

Clear amber with medium off white head. Sweet fruity aroma with ripe fruits, caramel and alcohol notes. Same goes for the somewhat boozy flavor. Ends sweet.

Bottled. An amber beer with a lazing orange/tan head. The aroma is sweet mlaty with notes of caramel and alcohol. The flavor is sweet alcoholic combined with a light note of fruit. The alcohol burns in the throat. Too simple - and should probably have been laid down for a year.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a lacing off white head. Caramel malty and mild spiced aroma. Phenol and spiced flavour. Ends with a chemical touch.

(bottle - 500 ml) Clear amber pour with not much of a head. Aroma is very strong. Lots of alcohol, wine, malts, and some paint thinner. Very sweet and malty at the beginning, giving way to a very cloying bubblegum middle and a slightly bitter finish of malts and alcohol that disappears quickly. Alcohol is very apparent. Not a good barley wine.

Darker gold, not much aroma. Sort of molassesy. Much sweeter than the other elves and a little stickier.
