Jan 6, 2008 Bottle. Clear medium to light dark orange color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, fruity, moderate hoppy, orange, notes of alcohol, licorice. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. (241207)

Jan 4, 2008 Clear copper with a small white head. Nose is a bit harsh, with metallic bananas and some fusel alcohol. Rather sweet in flavor, with lots of banana. Quite bitter, a bit salty. Not criminally bad, perhaps, but hardly very good.

Jan 2, 2008 bottles both 2006 and 2007:
both years pour a nice caramel brown with a white head that only last a few seconds. the 06 is just a tad bit darker. aroma is very sweet on both years with the 06 having less fresh fruit and more dark fruit aroma very sweet caramel malt in both years and just a touch of brown sugar in th e06. the flaovur were pretty identical both being sickly sweet with a very bitter aftertaste and finish. the palate is sticky. i did both years this way because they were so close to each other they came out to be the same score.

Jan 2, 2008 amber ale with a huge off-white head. aroma of fruit and malt. flavor is sweet, with fruity hop and nice warmth, but a bit watery. finish is slightly bitter and sweet.

Jan 1, 2008 I think it’s hard to mess up a barley wine. Maybe I’m biased towards the style, but I’ve never had one I disliked. This beer was pleasantly very sweet but didn’t hide it’s alcohol very well, and the hops were a bit off balance. A little astringent tasting, sort of like a mouth full of salty sand. It pours a beautiful perfectly transparent apple juice color that is just phenomenal. The aroma is fairly skunky of macro lager beer and rotten kool-aid.

Dec 31, 2007 0.5l bottle. Copper amber color with small head. Sweet caramelly and biscuity aroma with plenty of fruity esters (banana, pear) and solvent. Sweet, fruity, biscuity and caramelly flavor with overload of solvent and sharp alcohols.
