| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 30, 2007 Deep tawny in color with a small white head. Powerfully aromatic, with hints of raisins, toffee, prunes, caramel, red apple. Not a complex or deeply satisfying aroma, but it is powerful. Flavors are really dull and muted. It’s lacking depth and describable character. after4ever (2798), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 30, 2007 Pours perfecly amber. Clear and still. No head to speak of. Big caramelly nose. Still, and quite watery for a barleywine. Lots of toffee. Hides the alcohol incredibly well. Has no apparent finish. ChainGangGuy (2592), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jun 10, 2007 Appearnace: Pours a light copper body with a medium-sized beige head. Spotty lacing.
Smell: A distinct, piercing aroma of banana slices and bubblegum along with all kinds of Christmas-type spices and yeasty notes.
Taste: A heavily sweet raisin and spiced fruit flavor that dries out quickly to an alcholic bitter finish. There’s a noticeable plastic that is hard not to dwell on.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. A bit watery, too.
Drinkability: Mediocre at best. To me, a flimsy body and a weak flavor doesn’t make for a good English barleywine. DannyP (29), Connecticut, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 6, 2007 Great aroma, very sweet and drinkable. Pours a nice amber color. As previously noted, relatively sweet, with a nice malty flavor. Not as deep and heavy a barleywine flavor as I’m used to, but especially a good summer beer for those (like myself) who don’t tend to like lighter beers.
