| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Pour is a clean clear amber with a thin white head that went away quickly. The aroma is an unimpressive mix of grassy and metallic notes. The flavor comes off with a little bit of chewy malt sweetness, but really lacks any punch for a barleywine. It doesn’t carry anything home with flavor, palate or aroma. Seems kinda like a macro-version of a barleywine. It is pretty smooth, I can say that much for it -but that is due mostly to lack of anything interesting. minch25 (367), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 26, 2008 Aroma of sweet malted grains; hops, floral. Clear orange appearance; frothy beige head. Orange flavor, almost citric. Hoppy aftertaste; alcohol. Very good. Gets somewhat more boozy in the middle. Grainy. Maris Otter? Is it too sweet? TET (245), Finland
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 18, 2008 Very beautiful orange-red beer with light white head. Aroma is full and very temptating and there are lot of sweet berries and some bitterness. Berries, medium bitter and slightly alcoholic flavour. Wine-like, full-bodied and slippery to drink. Criminally Bad Elf is rich, nicely berry flavour and wine-like beer to enjoy calmly. bretupdegraff (181), Fishers, Indiana, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 9, 2008 ’Criminally Bad’ is a good description of this Beer. Very strong alch bite should have been expected on this but it was harsh. I felt like someone dropped a shot of vodka in my beer. Flavor outside of alcohol didn’t keep me going. I will avoid this in the future - unless I just need a quick buzz after a bad day and in that case a shot of anything else would be better. I have had some good Barleywine brews that offer so much more. There were some interesting flavors but the balance was not right for me. nearbeer (1868), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 8, 2008 500 ml., bb 09. Clear, shiny copper with a small but persistent creamy cap. Hints of cherry, caramel and chocolate aromas. Flavors of whiskey, caramel, apple, vanilla, cocoa and maybe some oak and grass in the finish. Medium body is mostly smooth, alcohol warming and finishes dry-hoppy. alexsdad06 (1105), Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 7, 2008 50 cl bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a frothy white head that collapses to a thin film. The aroma is sweet caramel malt with a hint of the 10.5%. The flavor has some sweetness up front mainly due to the caramel malt, but also because of some fruitiness. The finish is more on the alcohol and bitter side. Medium bodied, but not the easiest to drink as the finish is not pleasing. This did not meet my expectations. johndoughty (2167), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Aug 25, 2008 Bottle. Amber and very clear. As you would expect there is a strong presence of alcohol which hits you as soon as you start drinking. Malty and full bodied. To be treated with respect. Very nice. omhper (12298), Stockholm, Sweden
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Aug 18, 2008 Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Clear amber, airy head. Fruity and fatty. Very sweet with estery alcohol. Like peach brandy with corn flakes. Not much in the way of hops, ill-structured malt and massive amounts of boozy alcohol. Top fermented malt liquor!
