50cl bottle from Westholme stores, Goring. Slightly hazy amber with a thin white head; aroma has some fruity malts; similar flavour with traces of Belgian-style yeast and a little spice; the finish is gently bitter and rather dry.

Nice hazy copper coloured body with a strong amber tint, signs of orange, slight sediment, a good tan head that leaves a pleasant lace and good carbonation - this is what you’d want a bitter to look like, simply beautiful. Aroma of perfume, english hops, malt, curacao and perhaps a touch of a round of cheddar. Medium-bodied; Assertive malt up front fading to a mild cardboard malt, touched with subtle english (low a.a.) hops and ending with a pretty bland caramel and toffee sweetness. Aftertaste shows a bit more than the malt, but not much hops nor bitterness. Overall, not a horrible beer - but after the promise of the appearance, this one is a letdown. Still, not horrible for $4.29 (sale) for a pint from England, you’d never be able to find it anywhere in Britain for 2/3 quid. I sampled this 500 mL bottle purchased from Half Time in Poughkeepsie, New York on 27-November-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 11-December-2009.

Bottle conditioned, 500ml from Bellingers Garage, Grove. Gold with White head, above moderate carbonation. Quite tinny and sharp initially with a strange, floral hop note. Mid body with some caramel notes giving a light sweetness. Ends on a drying hop, but still a rose petal hop note. A little odd.

Cask at dba Brooklyn. Deep golden beer. Aroma is lightly malty with a touch of caramel and soft earthy/orange notes. Nice toasty maltiness with a lot of herbal/spicy character. Nice balance. Light sweet caramel with a touch of light sweetness and herbal spicines. Good balance with a light lingering sweetness. Pretty nice.
