20th June 2008. Think I’d had a few when I rated this one. Pleasant ale. Red fruit tones coming through and a little marzipan!

[500ml bottle from Tescos, Portsmouth] Amber-copper with a moderate foamy beige head. Tastes immediately of sweet caramel and vanilla. Soap comes through, then there’s a crackle of autumn leaves and just a hint of bitterness in the finish. Buttery, greasy mouthfeel. The pasteurisation is very evident. But my overall impression was dominated by sweetness, and not in a pleasant way. Disappointing from this brewery, as my other experiences of their beers have generally been favourable. c7

Nice example of the style. Orange with a nice fluffy head. Citrus and some mandarin sweetness and then dry dirty bitterness. Nice ale all round.
