A malty nose, with apple juice and dried fruits. Taste is pretty much the same with a very smooth finish. Couldn’t really pick up any hops in the aroma or palate. It started out a little funky in the nose though, but as it warmed up a bit things sort of leveled out a bit. Not really interesting at all. kevd193213 (506), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 30, 2006 (Reviewed on 11/25/06) On draught at Flatbreads in North Conway, NH. Brilliantly clear golden ale, served with no head. Little aroma, mostly of barley. Flavor is sweet and malty, tasting pleasantly grainy/barley-like. Overtones of honey. Some alcohol flavor. Moderate bitterness is present from the first sip, and carries through to the finish and lingers with a citrus-like acidity. The two young ladies at my table felt cheated with their beer selections after tasting mine. I think I could drink this all night. danfosha (36), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 21, 2006 From the bottle: pours rust color. Aroma is faint, not many strong flavors, except malt. Good level of bitterness, not excessive. Good example of the style. Just got back from skiing - could be slightly biased to the plus side. BückDich (4854), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 12, 2006 Bottle: Copper, light white head and lacing. Nose of light malt, a decent hopping rate too. The flavor is moderately bitter and fairly in-between styles. Plenty of maltiness and hopiness. Finishes a bit tart, sour, bitter. Not bad. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 10, 2006 Light amber pour with med-large foamy head. Aroma of light malts. Taste is malty with some light hop presence. An OK drink, just nothing special. Nowhere near some of the better UK bitters/ESBs out there.
