The aroma was of a nondescript fruity and nutty nature with a spicy and floral hop presence. The taste was well balanced between the sweet and fruity malt with the flavor of caramel coated red delicious apples, and a bitter hoppyness with a pomegranate like astringency. The mouthfeel was buttery (with salt) and bone dry, typical of many English bitters. Very easy to drink and sessionable, despite the nearly 6% ABV. Well crafted Maine brewed English beer, now available in Georgia. shp555 (1690), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 3, 2005 Bottle. Kaggie97 sent me this one I think. Pours a light amber color with little to no lace on the glass. Nose is quite ordinary with a little maltiness and a little hop. Nothing special in the aroma. Nice toasty, malted flavor with a solid slightly bitter finish. Carb is normal for the style at medium carbonation and body is actually pretty light. Not bad. leitrim65 (398), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 1, 2005 Amber color with a medium white head. Notes of malt, toffee, caramel and some hops in the nose. Light to medium body and mildly carbonated with flavors of malt, toffee, and caramel. A pleasant beer. ericnixon (719), Northampton, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 23, 2005 Perfect amber color with a nice nutty nose. Super smooth taste that was very pleasant. Nice mix of hope and malts to make them both pretty subdued. 3daddict (139), Portland, Maine, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 22, 2005 Something about a wild pig on the label has always put me off from trying this beer. Well let’s see: Poured a clear amber color with a one-finger head. Yeasty spice hops in aroma. Surprising more mild in taste than expected. Creamy yeasty hop flavor, very smooth, just a touch bitter and finished clean and dry. Sour yeast aftertaste. Not so scary after all! This is really good beer and my rating went up the more I drank. Highly recommended. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 20, 2005 Medium amber body with slow moving bubbles. The head is slightly yellow. The aroma is musty and a little astringent. It has apples and a hint of medicine. There is also a malty caramel note. The taste is toffee and some iced tea. There is a distinctive musty finish. An interesting bitter.
