Aug 25, 2009 Bottle, from Rhythm & Booze, Barton upon Humber. Deep ruby brown, thin but lasting off white head and low condition. Pleasant berry fruitiness and sweet roasted malt in the nose, Fruit initially in the mouth with a buttery sweetness creeping in followed by a drying hop bitterness, quite dry and fruity in the finish with a lingering roasted bitterness and hints of sweetness.

Clear red brown coloured with a small off white head.
Roasted aroma with notes of chocolate, caramel, hops and citrus.
Roasted flavour of fruits and coffee with notes of dried fruits and chocolate.
Roasted finish.

Feb 21, 2009 Cask handpull at The Plough, Byfleet. Very deep ruby colour, lasting dark beige head. Some choc on aroma, some dark fruits, black cherry, dark plum. Some fullness. Really very good condition, some lasting fruit sweetness. It’s even a little whisky like in the malts.

Jan 30, 2009 Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Blackish brown with a dense tan head; malty aroma; smokey roasted malt flavours with some milk chocolate; sweet milky finish, with an underlying earthy bitterness. Well balanced.

Jan 5, 2009 Updated: Jan 6, 2009Bottle...conditioned? Doesn’t feel it. Last of the Xmas selection pack. Dark ruby with a fleeting head. No roasted aromas discernible, all treacle and sensible English hops. The same signature soggy hay notes as the other 2 Ringwood beers I’ve had tonight. Bit of milk chocolate there, demerara, soap, sprinkle of nuts. Very Church End. Actually not too bad a beer by the end of it, just sooo boring. Certainly not an XXXX Porter by any stretch of the imagination. Milkily thin. Flatpack caramel bitter with watered down hops and roast barley extract.

Dec 28, 2008 Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms JDW, Bristol 28/12/08. Dark brown with reddish undertones and a frothy tan head that left plenty of lacing down the glass. Aroma of caramel and roasted malts. Flavour had some milk chocolate, berry fruits with hints of earthy hops and a short bitter finish. Drinkable.
