kiefdog (1567), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 9, 2009 Bottle courtesy of retorp. Pours an amber color with thin head. Aroma is sweet and lightly malty with notes of grain, yeast, bread, light honey. Flavor is about the same. Medium body with a sweet malt finish. TampaBrew (746), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 5, 2009 pours orange. Nose is bread, gain, dough, grass and sweet malt. Flavor is watery grains, bread, fruit and yeast. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 3, 2009 courtesy of retorp.
Pours orange/copper haze, thin white head.
Aroma is malty, hints of caramel, grainy with some corn sweetness.
Flavor, similar to aroma, caramel malts, possibly corn?, sweet palate. maltdog (509), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Nov 2, 2009 Coppery amber with a sad attempt at ecru foam. Strange aromas of grape soda, Middle Eastern restaurant, and corn chips. Equally odd flavor consists of caramel, chocolate covered raisins, and anise. Flabby mouthfeel despite tingly carbonation. Burnt popcorn finish and phenolic aftertaste. Don’t bother. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Sep 2, 2009 The beer itself was no great shakes, but oh the name and the label...me thinks they are enough to make this a great beer! Poured a light amber with a fluffy white head. Nice lacing on that glassware! Aroma of biscuit and caramel malts with some subtle plum type fruit smells. Flavor has a nice dark fruit start, fading into some caramel and some booziness. Not a horrible beer by any means. DrPiva (90), Alabama, USA Aug 25, 2009 Cool label! Pours with an amber color with a small head. Light amounts of dark fruits in the aroma. Some caramel, dark fruit, and metallic flavors. As it warmed it reminded me of a tawny port.
Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Aug 20, 2009 Bottle with the goofy label for the US market. Golden lager appearance with a reddish tint and a pretty decent head. Very sweet aroma, with a hint of cooked sugar. Drinks with a pronounced biscuit lead-in, followed with an oddly partnered white grape component. There’s not much of a hint of 8.2%, I must admit. Kinda unusual. Not disgusting. (#3646, 8/20/2009) jimhilt (1664), Bow, New Hampshire, USA Jul 22, 2009 Pours a cream, three-finger head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving some lace. Almost clear red/amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Malty nose. Flavor is caramel and toffee. Higher ABV is hidden. $4.50 for a 500ml bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me.
