Slight cidery aromas as well, the usual mix of peaches and apples. Thin on the tongue, very carbonated, with flavors that are not very pronounced. Apples, garlic?, cinnamon, and a sour maltiness to it as well. A little like shiner bock, but slightly more sweet and not a carbonated. Cornfield (4972), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA

It poured a decent reddish-brown color with little of any head. The really odd thing is, both the aroma and the finish were soy sauce. There’s some sweet malt in the taste, but it’s fairly mild. And watery. With a soy sauce finish.

| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Mar 18, 2006 Redddish copper brown with a creamy off-white head. Rather bizarre aroma of cocoa, berries and olive juice. In mouth, rather thin beer with sweet malt, light acidic points, and no hops. Rather boring. Cant remember where I got this bottle, maybe from Degarth? beerguy101 (3971), Newark, California, USA
| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Dec 10, 2004 Dark amber color. Small to no head. Aroma is sweet, touch of cardboard, grain, rice and cardboard, and none of it very nice. . A light bodied bock. Malts are fruity and sweet. Lots of cardboard (both wet and dry) No hop flavor. No much malt flavor either, just cardboard and wet towels and possibly some wet dog as well. This makes 4 of 4 awful beer for the December 2004 Micro Brew of the Month Club. The last swallow of this induced a shudder. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is neutral harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 19, 2003 A decent dunkel, but definitely not the greatest. Pours a light golden amberish color, with a little soda head. Toasted malt flavor, with some lingering hops in the aftertaste. eaglefan538 (2401), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 31, 2006 I too was disappointed by this one. I don’t know if it was the bock title or not, but this wasn’t anything German. Somewhat of a burnt and yeasty aroma and flavor. Hops were noticeable and didn’t seem to match the beer. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA

Thin head and low carbonation. Small particles present which is unusual because I believe that this is a filtered beer. Very clear otherwise. Feel is a bit thin, flat, and chalky. Malty taste with hops becoming apparent in the aftertaste. Unlike many "bocks", this one actually does seem true to style which is funny because it's listed as a dunkel (?).
