Dark amber, but fairly clear. Very aromatic, with some nice smooth hop aromas being strongest. Slight cidery aromas as well, the usual mix of peaches and apples. Thin on the tongue, very carbonated, with flavors that are not very pronounced. Apples, garlic?, cinnamon, and a sour maltiness to it as well. A little like shiner bock, but slightly more sweet and not a carbonated.

Pours dark brown with a tan frothy head. Sweet malty aroma with a bit of candy. More malt in the flavor. Lightly carbonated. A decent brew.

Not a big nose, deep dark color with small brown head. A touch of molasses with roasted coffee beans, touch of hops with a watery finish. Decent brew.

Thanks Tim. Toffee/caramel nose - slightly earthy with a hint of hops. Copper body, fluffy off white head that fades quickly. Flavor is sweet caramel malt - more of a brown ale than a bock. A bit of maple in the finish.

Originally reviewed back on 12/20/04. Received 3 score. Added to my RB list to check "New Mexico" as a beer state consumed. The "best" of the trio of NM beers I traded for. And this is no prize. Pours a dirty brown. Aromas try to give off some nut and dark dessert breads, but it doesn’t amplify. Thin body and flavors that are weak and struggling. Average at best.

Looks like a few of us Ratebeerians got this one from the beer of the month club. I thought this one looked just sexy....huge head...lovely lacing and a great rich cherry wood clear pour. And that was the best part of this one. Aroma improves as it warms...but the taste was odd....I think the other raters hit the nail on the head with the essence of cardboard.

A decent dunkel, but definitely not the greatest. Pours a light golden amberish color, with a little soda head. Toasted malt flavor, with some lingering hops in the aftertaste.
