Commercial Description:
Pancho Verde Chile Cerveza is a flavorful pilsner beer with exotic New Mexico green chili added. Green chili is a roasted, edible pepper known as much for its wonderfully unique flavor and aroma as for its subtle, spicy heat. We have balanced the aroma, flavor and heat in order to create an exceptionally drinkable and appealing beer that avoids the one-dimensional HOT! HOT! HOT! character of other chili beers.

12 oz. bottle. From the companies web site, O.G. 1.010, IBU 12, ABV 4.67. Pours a thin white head, over a clear yellow (SRM 3-4) body....nose is corn and perhaps a bit of chile.....taste is light corn malts, then chile spice which builds to mild lingering heat, minimal bitterness...mouth feel is light, bordering on watery, carbonation medium. A very light beer that is dominated by the chile with minimal malt, hop characteristics, but given the information on the web site, no surprise.

Gad, what a scene! When did this waste of precious natural resources come to be?! I’ve never tasted 10,000 year old mammoth bile, but I suspect this beer comes awfully close!

6-pack in Albuquerque. Pours a clear pale straw color with no head. Slight green chile aroma. Medium body, mild green chile flavor dominates the pale malt flavors and carries well into the finish. Late, slight chile heat. Could go well with with some assertive foods.

"Thanks" Skyview. Aroma of jalepeno with the flavor of green peppers. Undrinkable. Only a little heat, hardly any really.

I really enjoy spicy foods and chiles so my rating may reflect that. Hazy yellow color with a thin white head. Fresh sliced pepper in the aroma. Light pepper flavor and slightly hot.

Appearance: Pours a clear, pale yellow body with no head to speak of. Smell: Roasted chili pepper, baby! Taste: Pale maltiness with no apparent sweetness to obstruct the chili peppers delivering a roasty, vegetal taste and what could be considered a restrained bitterness. Same until the finish. Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Almost no carbonation. Drinkability: It’s no Cave Creek Chili Beer and that’s definitely a good thing.

Pours very pale and light with not much carbonation. Very clear. No head. Smells of corn and not much chili. First taste is bitter then floral sweet with not too over the top chili.
