Ungstrup (11075), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 27, 2008 Bottled. An amber beer with a fast disappearing beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of walnuts as well as light notes of alcohol. Amber golden color with smallish head. Nutty aroma with hops and hinds of caramel. Rather watery and a bit artificially. Not that bad but nothing inspired. yngwie (3454), Kristiansand, Norway Aug 26, 2008 Bottle. A slightly hazy beer of golden-orange color, topped by a small, off-white head. Sourish-fruity, malty nose with a touch of alcohol and nuts. Quite liqueur-like. The flavor is fruity-sweet, with an evident alcohol flavor, as well as a candy and caramel maltyness. Long, sweet finish with candy and malt, as well as a fruity, strange, lasting bitterness. Quite oily, full, warming mouthfeel. Strange for a weizenbock, more of a dunkler bock, but it’s drinkable, though far from outstanding. OK beer. pilsnerrogge (1586), Finspång, Sweden Aug 5, 2008 Bottled: Pours clear copper colour with a rocky head. Sweet, malty aroma with notes of red berries. Sweet flavour with notes of red berries followed by a nutty bitterness. Quite nice, but I don’t think it’s a Weizen Bock.
