Feb 8, 2009 A Mes rate. Bottle from Quinns. An attractive red amber colour with a decent off white head. Rich bready malt aroma with a pronounced smoky character. Reasonable chocolate malt and caramel in the mouth but let down considerably by a clear metallic note. Pleasant and spritely mineral finish brings it back on track but it’s nothing special overall. a nice enough brew but drinks much more like a märzen if you ask me.

Jul 1, 2006 An amber beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma is sweet malty, and the flavor is sweet with primary notes of caramel, leading to a dry bitter end that also has a hint of roastiness.

May 27, 2006 Small yellowish fine head; dark red-brown beer. Dark head with dark sugar, and a fine, just-not-hops leafy aroma, delicate; slightly honeyish. Soft-sweet taste, a bit dry-leafy, dried-out black bread. Very little aftertaste, just some dryness - again dried (not toasted) bread. Mineral water quality, slightly syrupy impression on swallowing. Pretty good, just what a simple beer should be about.

Feb 22, 2006 Bottle (from Landbierparadies): Dark amber coloured, thin but stable off-white layer, a bit lacing; sweet-malt, chocolate, molasses, fruit (berries) and herbal hops in the complex nose; sweetish-malty flavour, light to medium bodied; long-lasting sweet fruity-malty finish, some shy bitterness in the aftertaste. O.K., drinkable with pleasure...............
