Commercial Description:
A blend of four select German malts paired with toasted wheat give this ale its chestnut color and rich malty flavor. Medium in body, Red Rooster is a pleasant, balanced beer from start to finish.

Crystal clear, golden ale. Fizzy white head. Very malty aroma with notes of caramel and butterscotch. Perfectly balanced, the flavor mirrors the aroma with some additional buttery and grassy notes. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Short, crisp, grassy finish. The flavor is malty sweet up front; well-bittered and tart on the backside. Light-bodied and thin. Lightly oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Crisp, clean, refreshing finish.

(Draught) Pours a cooper color with a medium-sized beige head. Decent full bodied altbier with a hint of carmel.

This beer started off good with a nice mahogahny color and off white head. The aroma was interesting, malty, caramel and roasted, without any hops or minerals, and then a slight woody barrel like aroma. The flavor was okay, some bitterness, nice malt flavor and then that wood-like flavor with some astringency. I asked the server about barrel aging and he said that none of the beers were barrel aged. The body was fine, but overall the wood flavor which got stronger, detracted from the overall experience.

Draft at RCBC in Jacksonville. This beer's appearance was that of a small sized light brown head with fine-large sized bubbles that were mostly lasting. The body was uncarbonated and transparent with an orange hue. The nose was lightly hoppy and malty with a light hoppy taste to it. The mouthfeel was smooth and this is a light bodied beer with fair amounts of lacing. Not a beer that I was impressed with.
