River Cottage Stinger

Who’s this Hugh Fearnley-Wotsit fellow? Someone off the telly? His beer pours misty orange with a slender white head that dies instantly. It smells of plastic and faintly pencilly hops, grass and garden herbs as it warms, and tastes disconcertingly like popcorn. Lingers with the buttery sweet aftertaste of a budget tinned supermarket lager fattened up with cheap adjuncts and corn. Mealy, dead, irritatingly cereal-flavoured, and less nettley than pretty much any decently-hopped golden/blonde/amber beer that doesn’t contain nettles. POINTLESS.

Bottle 50cl.
Clear medium yellow color with a small to average, frothy, good lancing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate nettles, dusty. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Tastes green !! Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (170508)

Bottle. Poured clear golden amber with beige head. Fruity aroma. Light body with plenty of carbonation. Fruity (pears?) malty foretaste with mildy bitter hoppy finish. There is an interesting tingle or tang, perhaps from the nettles, but a little metalic to my taste. Quite refreshing and pleasant.

Bottle, courtesy of Cicely. This was dreadful and barely finishable. Bland, watery and thin. Drain pour material. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall may know a thing or two about food, but this shows he knows very little about what good beer tastes like. Crap.

Bottle. Fresh hoppy aroma. Looks pretty awefull. Very dull in flavour. Seems a decent quality yet nothing in it. Expected something unusual. Tangy grassy beer. Disappointing.
