Doppelganger (1207), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England May 30, 2007 Bright copper, small layer of coarse white head. Spicy green minty aroma, with an underlying marmalade fruit. Flavor...hmmm...this is interesting. There is prickly quality to it that I want to attribute to the nettles, and I hope isn’t just my brain playing tricks. Softly carbonated, light malt backbone with dried fruit esters that feels like a thoughtfully chosen background for the spice. The nettles seem to give a bit of electricity is in the glass. Subtly strange in an appealing way. My one complaint is that it doesn’t wear as well as it could. My first pour I really enjoyed. Finishing the bottle, not quite as much. yngwie (3602), Kristiansand, Norway Jul 14, 2007 Bottle. I’ve seen this guy (not the badger) on TV some times, but didn’t know he made a beer together with Badger until I found it at the brewery. I think it’s a quite nice beer, even though there’s nothing special to it, it’s just a refreshing, pleasant, quaffable beer. It pours a bit unclear, golden-colored, with a white head. It’s quite malty on the nose, nicely balance with fruity hops. The flavor is a bit on the grainy side, but it too has a nice balance between malt and bitterness. Medium body. Nice, lightly hopped finish. (070608) Carlus12 (361), London, Greater London, England Oct 16, 2007 Bootle. Pours clear amber / with small white head. Aroma is floral / hoppy / caramel. The taste is bready / malty / sweet toffeeish edge. Lively carbonation on the tongue with hoppy finish. Nice beer. madsberg (4374), Bangalore, India Feb 18, 2006 Bottled: Golden coloured. Clear. Off white head. Sweetness, grass and herbs in the nose. Light flowery, sweet and fruity flavour. Is light dry and has a light touch of nettles underlying it all. Is quite fresh and funky in the end. Pub (4125), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Mar 27, 2008 Bottled, 500ml. Orange amber with white head. Fairly typical Bager brewery spiced type bitter, some hints of elderflower, grassy, enough hop notes to take notice without ever reaching the heights. I’ve eaten stingers before and expected an iron type flavour, but not in this. Would have been better if they had really gone for it, but it’s not bad.
