| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 8, 2004 Updated: Dec 11, 2005(12/11/05, 12oz bottle) Small beige head atop a dark red-brown body. Aroma is mild, moderately sweet, candi sugar, belgian yeast. Taste is similarly devoid of substantive elements, with only a vague vegetal quality added to the limited qualities found in the aroma. Watery light-medium body, alcohol is essentially invisible. Hard to believe that my last rating could be considered generous. (3/3/3/2/7)
(2/8/04) Clear brown body with minimal off-white head. Aroma is candy sugar sweet, malty, Belgian yeast. Taste is sweet, candy sugar, some spicy hop. Medium body, some sticky sweetness. (4/3/5/3/10) hopdog (5606), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 7, 2009 Bottle: Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a frothy, spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet toasty biscuity Belgian malts and dark candi sugar with some light fruity esters. Starts with good fullness and a doughy dark caramel malty sweetness with some raisin complexity and clove spice before a drier, slightly warming bready finish. A very true to style and enjoyable brew. hopscotch (5507), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 11, 2006 Bottle... Hazy, mahogany ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Good retention. Mild aromas of caramel, dark fruit and chocolate. Perfectly balanced flavor. Lightly tart. Fizzy and thin. Not even close to any true Belgian strong ale I’ve ever tasted. Leans toward Flanders, but ends up in Golden, CO... the Coors Light of Belgian strong ales, I suppose. Much like Coors light, there’s not enough going on to be offensive. The relatively high ABV is extremely well-hidden... maybe too well-hidden. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA

Smells of residual candi sugar, some spice, some dryness. Tastes sweet and spicy with some dryness on the finish. Cornfield (4961), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Sep 13, 2004 Updated: Sep 29, 2005A nice reddish-brown color with a whispy head, the aroma was promising me more than the over-all brew delivered. Spiced scent, but a mild flavor. I like much more bite to a winter drink.
