Nutty and roasted aroma and flavors. Fizzy body. Out of the 7 beers I had there tonight, this was my favorite. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 9, 2003 Deep red with a nice head. This is a fairly watery, mild brown ale with little nuttiness. Sort of a Newcastle Brown lite. A good way to introduce newbies to "dark beer" because it tastes as mild as can be! Roasty smell and taste. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Sep 18, 2004 Tap at the Porterhouse brewpub. What is with this brewery and the cooked corn??? Brown with a tan head and clear. Cooked corn/garbage aroma, with malty roasty undertones. Sweet malt/light chocolate flavor. Roasty finish. urbnhautebourg (974), Annapolis, Maryland, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 13, 2003 I suspect my sample may have been a bit past its prime. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing especially right. The flavor was murky, full of undifferentiated malt and no hop definition. VENOM (941), Connecticut, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Sep 20, 2002 Clear auburn. Fizzy head reduces to nothing. Miniscule carbonation. Aroma of hay, grass and light caramel. Fizzy, grassy and dry with hints of toffee. Bitter but not much hop flavor. Even at room temperature it’s kind of bland and lifeless. Filling and gaseous. Finishes with a mown hay wrapped in sugarless toffee flavor and a redeeming hint of chocolate. Redeeming for the sake of saving this from macro swill status.
