Pours a hazy, very bubbly, copper-gold with an average size lasting frothy white head. Aroma of wheat and spices foremost along with a good amount of breadiness and yeast. Flavour also starts with wheat and spices along with some citrus fruit, bready malt and light Belgian yeast. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good (and no banana -- yay!).

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Bottle ( 12oz ). Hazy pale gold with a large fizzy white lasting head (3+). Appealing but VERY odd aroma - fresh whole milk, elmer’s glue, banana, sweet treefruit, grass, and lush, sweet, non-aggressive spicing - odd but damn, I like it. The taste is simpler - moderate alcohol, vanilla, grass/floral hoppiness, peaches in syrup, and dry aromatic spicing. Fairly thick body, decent carbonation, solid malt body to it, and a nice balanced finished - maybe a little too much body for a wit, but a fine brew regardless. watson1977 (272), , Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 16, 2009 Tap. Light grainy malts, moderate citrusy and perfumey hops, doughy yeast, with hints of white wine and faint spices. Head is large, frothy/creamy, white with good lacing and is fully lasting. Color is murky golden yellow. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic and just a touch bitter. Palate is medium, a little slick with a lively carbonation. A pretty god Witbier, and a good accompaniment with a heavy dinner. jgb9348 (2500), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 23, 2009 Cloudy golden orange tinted body with a nice sized (five centimetre tall) slightly off-white head - looks exactly right for the style. Aroma of corn, coriander seed, curacao, nutmeg, a bit of peppercorn and a few grains of hay. Medium to Full-bodied; Deep strong potent alcohol and wheat flavour with a pronounced belgian yeast strain and a long-lasting meaty and curacao flavour - odd mix, but definitely noticeable. Aftertaste has some residual tannic and dry qualities, but the yeast and wheat wins out. Overall, a good beer for the style, strong and slightly more yeastie and dry than most wits, but definitely worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits on 25-July-2009 in Washington, DC, sampled at home here in Washington on 23-October-2009. dand645 (102), Bayonne, New Jersey, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 19, 2009 Updated: Oct 20, 2009Arrowhead Market, Deep Creek, MD - Hmmm, I’m not quite sure what beer everyone else has tried but I can assure you the River Horse is a far cry from the Blue Moons and yes, even Hoegaardens of the world. This brew is nearly a tripel. A citrus rind and yeasty smell rises from a nearly perfect Belgian-style body, my 12 oz. poured exactly like the Chimay ads look like. Big pillowy head with a nice, bubbly carbonated body creates a cracked pepper, coriander, and heavy yeast flavor. Just a fine example of the style.
