Commercial Description:
Leo introduced the rest of the River Horse staff to one of his hometown favorites, cooked black ants. Mama sends them from Mexico where they are only able to be collected for about 9 weeks a year during the rainy season. The black leaf eating ant is considered a delicacy, traditionally used as a wedding gift with the belief that they are an aphrodisiac. Their light woody flavor and rumored libido enhancing qualities are equally represented in this Burnt Sugar Ale for a less than conventional brew.

On tap at the KSBF 08. 1st monkey poo, not ants! This one had the longest line to start and kicked the quickest (poured from 12oz bottles from the brewery - not sure how many the did of this). I’ll give them a 20 for orginality! Poured a medium goldn color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of grains, lightly earthy, and toasty. Tastes follow suit. I guess the ants gave the toasty, earthiness? Regardless, I give them props for doing something like this!
