Commercial Description:
Brewing the perfect ale is truly a balancing act ... Hazardous work you might say. With Hop Hazard our challenge was to hand craft a malt rich base that could counterbalance a combustible five-hop blend and still leave your taste buds with enough room to enjoy a unique, dry-hopped finish.

Pours a light orange color with a off-white head. Smells pretty fruity and sweet. The taste is smooth and sweet. Really drinkable, even though I drank it in a pretty bad mood. Some hops mostly fruitiness though. A good example of an APA.

bottle. pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. smells of nuts and toffee. flavor is citrusy with a bit of nuts. for some reason I get a bit of a Belgian wit character from it as well. it is extremely smooth drinking for the style, I finished it within two minutes of pouring it. finishes dry and lightly biter. different and interesting, may be my favorite from this brewery.

Pours a pretty typical amber color. Small head with good retention. Nice hop aroma. The flavor is interesting. The hops are there, but it has kind of a toasted nut flavor. Perhaps the malt? Really sticky in the palate too. Leaves behind a bit of a sour, bitter flavor. Decent pale ale, but not great.

River Horse Hop Hazard Pale Ale ABV: 5.5% Calories: estimated at 150 C Volume: 12 fl oz Glass: Shaker Purchased at: Sampler at Glendale Liquors in Lawrenceville, NJ Price per fl oz: $14.99 / 144 fl oz = $0.10 per fl oz Consumed at: Home sensory first impression: Sweet aroma, pleasant. Nice head, seems to stay. Simple reddish brown color. Hops are there - nice mix of malt and hops - good balance - deep. Head is holding on. Aroma/Olfactory: Malt flavor is: caramel, coffee, walnuts, roasted, rich. Hop flavor is: resinous, grapefruit citrus, dark with hoppy flavor. Yeast flavor is: doughy, moldy, muddy, wet, and luxurious. Other flavors include: corn, grapes, soy sauce, touch of smoke, pine. Visuals/Appearance: Color is: pale, amber, red, thin Liquid is: clear, immaculate, thin. Head and lace are: bumpy, off white, with nice lace. Taste/Flavor: Maltiness or Sweetness level is: light to medium Hoppiness or Bitterness level is: medium Sour level is: light Palate/Tactile: Body or Mouthfeel is: medium Texture is: creamy, sticky, salty, tissue Carbonation is: average Finish is: astringent, long, and well done. Overall experience: A very nice ale. Enjoyable in flavor, hops, and aftertaste. I liked most everything about it. It’s still not up to the standard of Victory Hop Devil, but I have a special place for that. I did not like the light watery undertone, though it does not interfere too much.

Received in a trade, although honestly I don’t recall who sent it to me. This reminded me in many ways of the first homebrew I made. The beer poured out a HUGE billowing head. I mean it took me a few minutes to pour because the head was so eruptive. Plus, it took forever for it to dissipate. The aroma was lacking any sort of assertive hop profile I’d expect to find in a beer named "Hop Hazard" but zippo. What was left was some semblance of sweet malts and a touch cheesy. Color is a hazy light-brown/orange with said enormous head. Just not a very good beer. SNPA would blow this outta the water unfortunately.

12oz bottle Extra thanks to kramer17801: pours hazy amber brown with a quick fading head. aroma of slight hop and somewhat sweet. flavor of slighty sweet caramel then the hops hit seems almost backwards. decent brew.

not good. very similar to Avery IPA in its over carbonation, and super cloyingly sweet hop selection. Not hop bitterness to speak of, and way unbalanced.
