There was a fair amount of an off-white head, but it subsided rather quickly and left no lacing. Milder aroma, with notes of pine and floral. Some maltiness also. The taste is a fairly typical malt body with a smattering of bitterness, leading to a slightly dry finish. It is certainly not the "Hop Hazard" that the label warns, but a decent beer nonetheless. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 26, 2006 Decent APA - Slightly dry, hoppy flavor. A little sour and not all that exciting, but smooth and sessionable. would hope they could improve upon this one shadey (1498), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 7, 2006 Draft at MacGregors in Henrietta. On the dark side of amber with the typical creamy head that accompanies a tap pour. Aroma is subdued earthy hops. The flavor is carmel and earthy hops. Not a bad APA. lamas (716), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 6, 2006 Bottle. A clear, copper pour with a small light-tan head. Nicely balanced aroma that features plenty of caramel and malts to go along with the citrusy hops. A smooth, medium body. The taste is equally well-balanced. A good deal of caramel upfront followed by a bit of a dry, bitter finish. A little boring, but definitely poundable. HopBackDoc (394), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 5, 2006 Surprisingly good IPA from a brewery that hasn’t done it for me with some of their other selections. Nice dry hoppiness and good aftertaste. Would have never tried it if it wasn’t given to me. Nice beer at a nice price. blankboy (3204), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 28, 2006 Bottle. Pours a hazy copper with a large semi-lasting foamy off-white head. Mild aroma of light citrus hops and sweet malt -- smells fine but for something called ’Hop Hazard’ it’s not very hoppy. Flavour’s also dissapointing: very mild and watery hop and malt flavours which is slightly saved by a decent bitter finish. Light bodied. It’s drinkable but it’s somewhat bland, if this were called River Horse Pale Ale without the ’Hop Hazard’ part I probably wouldn’t have been so dissapointed. donrajin (233), Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 27, 2006 This is a nice smooth and drinkable APA. It has plenty of flavor without being over the top as some microbrewed APA’s do. A nice drink if you plan on have more than a few. RAYBOY01 (1829), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 19, 2006 Solid, easy-drinking APA with a caramel malt backbone, toffee and bread dough...nicely balanced by the prominent citrus (grapefruit, mainly) hop highlights. Thoroughly enjoyable and I could see these being enjoyed on a session basis.
