Thick white head that stays and leaves rings, cloudy amber color and a full body taste. A nice balance, as you want some bitterness but not enough to overcome the palate. This is a well balance PA. dmac (1507), Toms River, New Jersey, USA

Pours a very good looking orange/amber with a huge frothy mostly white head that has some very nice staying power and leaves rings of lace down my Allagash glass. Initial aroma was grain, biscuit, slight toffee and citrus rind. After warming some slight chocolate and honey sweetness appears. Flavor is biscuit, citrus rind, burnt toffee. Medium bodied with a slight creamy feel from the large amount of head. I must say this is very sessionable and underrated. MaltDawg (810), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Citrus with a Cheerio graininess and caramel aroma. Cloudy light golden/orange. Lots of caramel in the flavor with a big hop bitterness. Hop flavor is subdued but some of a grassy dry hop flavor. Body and mouthfeel are medium. Finish dry and bitter. ben4321 (1061), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Overall Impression:
Pretty hoppy for a Pale. Nice taste to it. Enjoyed it more then the other River Horse Beer in my August 2008 Beer of the Month package.

Nose is sweet with some citrus. Taste is sweet and somewhat hopped. A tad too bitter for the overall taste. But all in all tasty. pressboxjoe (76), , New Jersey, USA

I’d prefer it with more balance - fizzy hoppy and lemony, a perfectly fine beer but not a beer I’d search out or stock up on. I wonder if marketing to hopheads - who probably won’t see this as an excellent beer compared to dozens of other beers - is a sound ploy. Birdiebeagle (815), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 27, 2009 Bottle Pours a nice amber with an off white head head. The head lasts okay and produces a decent lacing. Has a good hoppy aroma of citrus, with a slightly malty touch. Taste is wonderful and hoppy. Not too strong but a very good blend. Has good carbination and a great mouthfell. Has a very solid finish. A good medium to light body. This is blended very well. A really good beer.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 25, 2009 Bottle. Musty hop nose with heavy caramel, light cracker and chocolate/toffee, trending toward generic ’American Strong Ale’ with every sniff. Caramel-copper pour with a splendid, picture-perfect, spoonable (wiggling! jiggling!) tan head. Medium body, touch water, lightly bitter, very earthy caramel taste, dry and lightly toasty with faintly resinous hop notes with light orange citrus and crackery yeast. We’ve got this classified as an APA right now but this is tasting more like a heavily dry-hopped Best Bitter - which is good. Easy gulping ale with a somewhat interesting hop profile, and a house (yeast?) smack I’m coming to really appreciate.
