| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Feb 18, 2003 Lightest looking bock I've ever seen, more like a hazy-orange wheat beer in appearance, with almost no head. Not promising. Nose is one-dimensional candy-sweet, all right but my hopes aren't increasing. Flavor also very sweet, sticky, tiny bit smoky, rather boring. This was really a nothing for a bock, a style I usually like a lot. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA

It’s a good example of a bock, I think, although I’m not the best judge...In this style I always just get tons of malt and not a lot else. Well made, I can certainly tell that. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 20, 2002 Slightly hazy lemony orange. Thin, dense white edge head. Spaced out tiny bubbled carbonation. Aroma of bitter tea leaves, hay, apples and not much else. Mushy yet juicy with a pear essence and muted toasted malt base. Estery alcohol is slightly apparent in flavor and the spicy aftertaste. Medium body. Sticky for a Hellerbock, Maibock or whatever Bock they’re aiming for. Weak hops. Finishes crisper, sharp and with a slight surge in alcohol. OK, but... urbnhautebourg (974), Annapolis, Maryland, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 19, 2002 This beer rekindled my interest in craft brews after a long hiatus. Big, burly malty presence with fruity notes coming out at just the right times to lighten things up a bit. Hops are present in the nose and in the flavor profile, to an extent generally not seen with Bock beer. A swell Hellerbock which can be drank in quantity. Terrible label, however. morty99 (371), Maryland, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 12, 2002 It’s somewhat hard to explain this beer. Very light for a bock. Somewhat thin and watery as well, but somehow tastes half decent. Sweet, somewhat figgy. No head and no lace to speak of which is disappointing in a bock. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 3, 2002 I smell trub, hops and barley, also sweetness. Yellow body with hints of orange, no head. Taste raisons but very light. Not a fullmouth flavor that leads to a watery finish. Nice, but unbalanced
