| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 19, 2002 This beer rekindled my interest in craft brews after a long hiatus. Big, burly malty presence with fruity notes coming out at just the right times to lighten things up a bit. Hops are present in the nose and in the flavor profile, to an extent generally not seen with Bock beer. A swell Hellerbock which can be drank in quantity. Terrible label, however. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

Yellow, slight lasting head. Aroma is mostly clean, but a touch of cooked corn is noticed. Malty clean and crisp, with a touch of hops in the finish. Strong but easy to drink. freekyp (906), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 15, 2003 Same lame labels from this brewery - when will they realize that using a home inkjet printer for their beer labels just won't cut it? As for the brew, the aroma is sweet, yeasty and just plain terrific. I enjoyed the malt flavor, but the alcohol could have been more well-hidden. Overall, a decent effort and I'm glad to see them try to brew a challenging style. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA

It’s a good example of a bock, I think, although I’m not the best judge...In this style I always just get tons of malt and not a lot else. Well made, I can certainly tell that. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 24, 2002 Pretty good for an American bock, but doesn’t compare to the German varieties. Not that balanced. VENOM (941), Connecticut, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 20, 2002 Slightly hazy lemony orange. Thin, dense white edge head. Spaced out tiny bubbled carbonation. Aroma of bitter tea leaves, hay, apples and not much else. Mushy yet juicy with a pear essence and muted toasted malt base. Estery alcohol is slightly apparent in flavor and the spicy aftertaste. Medium body. Sticky for a Hellerbock, Maibock or whatever Bock they’re aiming for. Weak hops. Finishes crisper, sharp and with a slight surge in alcohol. OK, but...
