Commercial Description:
Special Ale is our flagship ESB. It’s been with us from the start and hasn’t changed since that first brew way back in 1996. Ample quantities of caramel malt give this English ale a soft copper hue and the colorful addition of carapils malt adds a slight sweetness you might mistake for honey.

Bottle: poured copper with a small white head. Light malt, light hops both in flavor and aroma. Watery finish. Plain, unexciting, and uninspired. Virtually like water. I like the cool label though.

bottle thanks to lou. looks normal, smells normal (although perhaps maltier than a normal ESB), and tastes normal. very clean and drinkable but quite plain.

Bottle from Lou18. Pours a nice copper orange color with a decent white head. Some lacing. Aroma is weak malt, fairly sweet. Lighter bodied and a thin mouthfeel. Lacking in bitterness.

The special ale is my favorite selection form River Horse. It has a warm inviting golden color with the scent of honey. The taste is wonderful with more of the honey presence. I highly recommend trying this brewery just to see what Jersey has to offer.

Typical ESB copper color, caramel flavor topped with a wee bit of spice. Left a sticky residue on my tongue which I don’t care for.

Carmel orange color, thin, flat with a foral aroma. The bottle says "You’ll never miss the water" That’s because this ale taste just like water. Nothing special about this one.

This is a very light ESB. Not much flavor for a ESB some hop and caramel flavors. Finish clean and dry.

A very light and easy to drink ESB. Might have become a little light on flavor, but for a Jersey micro, its a good job. Easy to drink that even a non-beer drinker would enjoy.
