Taste adds a little cardboard and some yeast. Flavor is mostly sweet with an astringent finish. Alcohol is well covered. Interesting. tbookman (618), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 15, 2007 Medium bronze color - thin, creamy head and nice lacing. Aroma of apples, caramel, and a whiff of vanilla. Flavor is fairly sweet and heavy on the caramel, though has some spiciness toward the end. Very smooth on the palate and the alcohol is well hidden. A little different take on the Tripel, but pretty good in its own right. RiverHorse (454), New Jersey, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Mar 5, 2007 This poured an orange color with a subltle head. I was expecting a lot with this one, but it didn’t deliver. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but this beer is really lacking something. Orange and malt on the nose of this beer but the taste is very fizzy and didn’t do it for me. For the cost of this beer, I would rather spend my money on something better. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 30, 2007 Bottle. I’ve had this one in my fridge for a while, always putting it off, because ... well, because it frightened me. Finally took the dive last night. Poured nice enough into a generic tulip glass. Hazy and orange with a nice frothy head. To my surprise, the head and lace were still there after a good hour, and after most of the liquid had been consumed. When still chilled, this is a real nice tripel (to my astonishment). Vanilla, banana, candi sugar and some subtle spices highlight it and the alcohol is relatively well hidden. Subtle aroma of the same elements. As it started to warm up, it picked up a bit of a bitter hop character, and the aroma became a little metallic. It began to break down a bit after that ... the flavor became bland and a little astringent. It’s pretty good when chilled, and ok when warm. Still, I was pleasantly surprised. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 15, 2007 Orangish/copper, minimal white head, fades to film rather quickly. Huge alcohol and fusel like aroma. Flavor the same. very harsh and astringent. Mouthfeel still has a fizzy carbonation to it, although it looks pretty flat. Overly dissapointed in general. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 30, 2006 12 oz. bottle. Clear amber pour that produces a medium, loosely structured white head that collapses quickly.Aroma is characterized by a dominant fruitiness complemented by some yeast notes and a bit of grain. Mediu/full body, very light carbonation, and a thick and slightly siicky mouthfeel. Sweetness at the front with a bit of spicy bitterness coming on at the finish. Drinkable, smooth, not as complex as the better tripels. Arayaga2 (970), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 28, 2006 standard darkish yellow product with decent aroma that fades miserably into grassy sweet taste. Perhaps I got a bad one.
