I expected this to taste like death, but was supprised that it didn’t have an overpowering alcohol taste that usually comes about due to large amounts of alcohol. Virtually no head, and a copper color body. CaptainCougar (5530), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 4, 2006 Pours a clear dark bronze copper with a thin coating of wispy white head. Sweet slightly biscuity malty aroma has some mild fruity notes and astringency. Body starts with a sugary sweet pale maltiness bittering toward an earthier slightly bready finish. Hides its alcohol pretty well, but could be more balanced and authenitic. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 24, 2006 Bottle. Slightly hazy amber, with a fluffy white head. Aroma of banana, spice, vanilla, lemon, golden raisin, and some faint soapy yeast. Sweet malt/cakey/spice flavor reminiscent of instant Betty Crocker quick bread mix, with some slight citrusy tang. Medium palate with some fizziness. Alcohol very well hidden. OK tasting and provides a nice little mellow buzz, but I imagine its basically a Belgian Tripel poser. drpimento (873), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 13, 2006 Pours with only a faint head which quickly disappears and no lace. Does have an interesting aroma of caramel, cinammon, orange, nutmeats, and wet clay(!?). Beer is almost flat. Quite sweet at the start followed with a some nice balancing bitterness that gives way to a sweet eh. Think this must be an abberation. Can’t remember where I got it. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 13, 2006 On tap at Barcade. Pours a boring hazy golden, small white head. Aroma of yeast and fruityness (lemony). Initial yeasty flavor. Has a hint of floral, herbal element. An artifial tart syrupy fruityness of black cherries, plums and an unpleasant late acidity, almost like Theraflu (syrupy, artificial lemon flavor). Not balanced. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 10, 2006 A slightly hazy yellow beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet spicy - especially basel (basillikum) is coming thru, and mixes with light notes of yeast. The flavor is very sweet with lots of lemon (a somewhat artificial lemon note), coriander, and basel. The end is dry with light wheaty notes. FROTHINGSLOSH (2038), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 8, 2006 Updated: Aug 27, 2007Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured an orange-copper color with a trace of a khaki head. The Aroma is sweet with strong ripe fruits. The flavor is very sweet and sugary with plum and other ripe fruits. There is a tangy malt finish. Something just does not quite click with this beer. Some nice elements but the whole leaves you a bit disappointed. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 6, 2006 Honey-hazed amber, thinly headed with pronounced carbonation emanating from tiny bits of yeast. Fruity, estery yeast aromas with a dry spicing and a dank lean. Belgium is well-represented. Thick bodied with a fruity flavor finding banana and peach before a dry finish. Esters linger. Interesting how the description on the bottle (and above) states that the palate improves with age, yet I can’t find any date codes...
