Commercial Description:
Notice a unique aromatic nose with a hint of vanilla esters, which comes from the Belgian ale yeast. Tripel Horse has a big body and rich mouth feel and finishes mostly dry with only a touch of sweetness. If you shy from some of the sweeter Belgian ales, we think you will enjoy this one. The palate improves with age, so keep some on hand and you can ride Tripel Horse down a new path with each opened bottle.

Rerate: Medium amber-orange. Smooth texture, but a bit too sticky and cloying. Spicy-sweet, with nice hints of flower petals, coriander and clove. Malts were sweet (caramel, sugar cereal, honey). Almost mead-like in a way. A tad too much sweetness for my buds, though. Very light bitterness (grassy, plant-like). Alochol is hidden very well. Some nice things going on.

First and foremost the intial aroma is sugary and sweet. When it first hits the palate it gives a bit of a sting but soon after the sweetness kicks in. All in all its pretty goddamned good, high in alcohol content and very easy to drink. I like. I really like. I say bosh to the 73 rating. It deserves at least a 90.

Blind rating. Pours bronze with an edgy white head. Aroma is earthy malt, yeast (dough) and spicy cinnamon and vanilla notes, caramel malt nose. Malty caramel medium sweet flavor, medium bitterness, clean finish, slight sour meal notes. Medium bodied and creamy, smooth palate.

100% blind rating. Body is medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted bread), with notes of clove, cinnamon, nutmeg. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Tripel? No. Overspiced ale? Perhaps. Cloyingly/artificially sweet. Hard to enjoy.

Beer pours a hazy medium orange-amber color with a small, white, frothy, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma is malty with light notes of husky toasted grain; hoppy with moderate notes of herbs and light notes of resin/pine; yeasty with trace notes of barnyard; light miscellaneous note of soil and a moderate note of spicy alcohol. The flavor is light and moderately-to-heavily sweet, trace bitter and trace acidic with a short, lightly bittersweet finish. The body is medium, the texture is watery-to-velvety and the carbonation is average. The ABV is quite well hidden with only hints of it in the nose. Enjoyable.

Dark golden, very thin head. Aroma is crisp hops, light yeastiness, light spices. Taste is strong and sweet up front. Alcohol is very masked. Light earthy spices all around. Finish is dry, tangy. Could use a little more body. Pretty balanced for a triple, drinkable and not too over powering. Decent.
