Commercial Description:
Notice a unique aromatic nose with a hint of vanilla esters, which comes from the Belgian ale yeast. Tripel Horse has a big body and rich mouth feel and finishes mostly dry with only a touch of sweetness. If you shy from some of the sweeter Belgian ales, we think you will enjoy this one. The palate improves with age, so keep some on hand and you can ride Tripel Horse down a new path with each opened bottle.

Amber-gold color, thick white head. Smells like a strong Belgian. Good flavor and mouthfeel. Mild hops, corriander, yeast, and maybe some orange in the flavor. Tasted like a strong white ale. Not quite what I expected for a tripel. This bottle unfortunately sat at room temperature for 8 months, in the dark, so that may have affected the flavor some.

Bottle obtained in trade with Goldtwins. Light brownish yellow color with a foamy white head. Aroma is very thin and consisits of lightly sweet malt, dry fruits and a hint of alcohol. Flavor is light as well but a decent mix of sweet malt and honeyish fruit and dry, bitter, floral hops. Dry, bitter finish is nice but the palate is very light and so are the flavor and aromas. A decent beer just very light for a triple.

Bottle. Pale yellow, small white ehad. Cheesey floral aroma is pretty intense. Bizarre floral sweet flavour, not at all what I expected. Average to light palate. Meh.

Bottle (12oz). Poured clear bubbly amber-gold with a thin white head - nice colour, not sure about that head. I don’t get much aroma off this one - sweet lightly caramel malt, a hint of acetone, but it develops a very nice fruity sourness as it warms - apricot, even a hint of green olive. The flavour reveals the alcohol, but the wood sweet malt, honey fruit, drily floral, still that acetone note too. Mouthfeel is still, lightly syrupy, quite a bit going on but all a little too muted to make me fully pleased with it. An excellent effort, though - maybe add a bit more body and some carbonation ...

Golden-bronze colour. Very bright...where’s the yeast at? Gently effervescent. In my Tripel Karmeliet glass this actually looks really good for a yeastless tripel. Aroma of apple liqueur, faint caramel, peach, wood. The body is a mix of creamy thick honey malts and woody/peppery alcohol with peach/pear esters dancing around in the back. The thing I see here is that while it has pretty good flavours and complexity, yeast would improve that. BUT, the mouthfeel is solid and I know you’d screw up the creaminess if you bottle-conditioned this. So you’re left with a decent tripel with areas of weakness that might be tough to fix without messing something else up.

Clear yellow color with. Fruity aroma with hint of vanilla. Sweet, fruity taste with slight vanilla aftertaste. Clean medium body beer. A nice offering from River Horse.

Bottle. Nose-lots of apple and very fruity esters. Taste-slight lotion, vanilla, very creamy, and floral. I liked this beer very much.

Dense white lacing with an orangish body. Arome suggested citrus, chewing gum, Southern Comfort, apple. A bit on the thin side, sweet but not thick, almost limp. Floral notes finishing with cinnamon and citrus, perfume. Doesn’t seem close to 10%. Quite decent, especially apart from the mouthfeel.
