This was a local favorite of a bunch of my friends early in our craft beer ventures. 10% fruity belgian ales, sure the flaws are many to the trained palate but this was a regular offering that stood tall above the bud, miller, coors trio. This was one of THE beers to have a six pack of for any given outing. Everyone has a local favorite this was one of mine. KornDogg (211), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 21, 2009 Apricot in color with a smooth white head. Citrusy, with a significant vanilla essence from the Belgian yeast, Tripel Horse tries hard to balance these sweeter components with the intense alcohol content. The content overpowers however, and makes for a rather unpleasant drinking experience. This beer could be great, but it tries too hard and comes off overdone and unecessarily aggressive. ghostmonkey (182), budd lake, New Jersey, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Mar 8, 2009 Bottle. Cloudy orange yellow with large-bubbled off-white head. Actually bubbled out of control as I was a little inattentive. Bright orange peel aroma, mint. For whatever reason - maybe because it’s a springlike day? - this feels more like a spring beer to me today. Actually liked the suds I sipped frantically more than the flavor of the beer itself. Feels its 10 percent and then some. Kind of a vegetable flavor, and yeasty. Thought I would like this more than I did. EithCubes (2151), Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 7, 2009 Bottle. Big rich malt nose with vanilla and lighter-than-expected alcohol and yeast. Golden pour with a super-excitable creamy beige head - rises and billows like the very best of Duvel pours. Very crisp body, sharp and lightly acidic with a much larger yeast component than in the nose. Creamy medium body. Light vanilla, and alcohol nearly completely undetectable. Spices are very light, not overly sweet, and yet the effect is the same as that of cloyingness - desire to stop! WisconsinBeer (526), St Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 29, 2009 Bottle. Thanks to Jabic for the hookup! Pours a hazy yellow with a medium head. Flavor is big yeasty vanilla esters. Not as much sugar as the typical tripel, which is just fine. By cutting the sugar it cuts out the ripe fruits and banana aspect and focuses more on the yeast itself, which is a great thing to focus on. Overall, a solid beer.
