imdownthepub (4045), Banbury, Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England Dec 8, 2007 Cask conditioned at The Turf Tavern, Oxford. Amber with white head. Whew, this was a strange one, the aroma is smoked cheese, I kid you not. The overall impression was of drinking a rich smoked stilton, but it was not unpleasant, quite the contrary. There was bitterness and some fruit in the body, a really interesting beer. DJMonarch (4091), Northwich, Cheshire, England Feb 4, 2007 Cask Handpump at the Riverhead Brewery Tap, Marsden 09/12/2006
Strong fruit aroma. Amber coloured and slightly rich on the palate with some alcohol present. Fruity. A little bitterness in a dry finish. chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England May 20, 2005 Coppery colour with a very slight red tinge. The aroma is rather muted. Full malt flavour with some bitterness and moderate hop presence. Some sweet treacle toffee lurking in there. Full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Has a rather traditional feel to it and the (relatively) high alcohol level for a bitter doesn’t make itself obvious. Quite classy. Cask (handpump), Riverhead Brewery Tap, Marsden.
