microdyke (360), Portland, Oregon, USA Jan 2, 2003 A citrus, fruitey smell. Hoppy up front then a mellow citrus fruit background. Crisp and smooth, quite bitter for my liking. DaSilky1 (1933), San Diego, California, USA Nov 21, 2002 Updated: Jan 14, 2005Crystal clear golden with a telling white head..east coast hoppy smell..Cardboard malts with creamy bitterness and sweetness in the background..Sadly, I wasn’t in the mood for sweet cardboard and mustiness. so I must dissent MrDick (277), San Francisco, California, USA Nov 2, 2002 This IPA pours a mellow amber color. Cascade hops with tangy citrus flavors. The hops mellow with warmth for a good glow. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Oct 20, 2002 Orange gold color, large head. Malty and hoppy. A medium bodied IPA. Hoppy without being very bitter. Slight hint of smoke in the taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. uglybastard (101), Riverside, California, USA Aug 27, 2002 Nice, though thin, head atop a golden body. Smells simillar to a sierra nevada, same kind of pineapple, grapefruit smells. However, the glass smelled of the cleaning liquid used on it, so it probably left off tastes to the brew as well as off smells. (would have smelled and tasted a lot better). Had the same fruityness around the tongue as it did in the nose, only there was a hell of a lot of hop bite. If your a hop head, you’d love this beer. Not quite as well balanced with malt as other IPA’s, but the maltyness has a presence throughout the beer. Also leaves a nice lace on the glass.
