JPDIPSO (4290), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jan 8, 2008 Nitro pour. Near black pour. Typical creamy light tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, light peat, roasted and toasted malts. Flavors match the aromas quite well with chocolate, roasted malt and a bit of lactose. Fell is firm, yet supple. An easy drinking stout. Skyview (2933), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Dec 17, 2007 On nitro at the Riverside brewpub in West Bend, Wisconsin as "Red Felt Pelt Oatmeal Stout." Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thick and silky-creamy tan head that has excellent retention and lacing. The nitro does this oatmeal stout very good. Aroma of dark toasted black malt, dark chocolate, coffee, and a touch of lactose. Taste is full bodied, no carbonation except the nitro charge, smooth, creamy with flavors of dark chocolate. toasted malt and a touch of coffee. Finish is smooth, creamy with a semi-sweet dark chocolate aftertaste. Ughsmash (3086), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jan 24, 2007 On tap at Riverside. Poured a dark, somewhat murky brown with a little tan head remaining. Sweet, dark toasted oats with an odd, impending-doom-like alcohol and sour lactic feel coming through. Doom indeed came across in the flavor department.. heavy sour lactic & bitter medicinal notes.. far beneath were the expected darker roasted chocolate and sweet oats. Sour and sharp on the palate.. medium-bodied.. left a nice dark sweetness, but sharp lactic too. Note: there were a couple other people there that seemed to be enjoying this... and I gave it a second chance with the same results. keoki182 (304), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA Jan 23, 2007 Riverside’s Oatmeal Stout is a sweet yet smoky stout that is warming and hearty for a Wisconsin winter. Very pleasant roasted oat aroma. Gorgeous black color, tan head. Creamy and smooth mouthfeel. This beer gets even better as it warms. A fine "Brewmaster’s Choice" by master brewer Al Bunde.
