Aurelius (2469), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jun 30, 2008 Coffee and milk aroma. Black, thin creamy head. Smooth, but not too sweet and not bitter enough. Heavy, a little syrupy. Needs character.
Naka (415), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 22, 2008 Sampled at the Pour House both on draft and on cask. Both poured a dark brown / black color with a dark tan head. Aroma of coffee and milk chocolate with a little bit of a sour note, I’m guessing from the lactose. On cask, this tastes like sweetened black coffee. An oily creamy texture with some good chocolate sweetness. Not as much of the lactose twinge that I get from a lot of other milk stouts. Non-cask isn’t quite as creamy, but still has a good flavor. Not much bitterness while drinking it, but leaves a little bit of a roasted bitter on the tongue.
