probstk (1007), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Aug 26, 2009 341 ml bottle from Trappe a Fromage, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: Cloudy deep golden with a fair, loose white froth.
Aroma: Quite yeasty, kinda savoury, fruity, lots of coriander and spice, some floral honey.
Palate: Medium body, moderate effervescence, smooth.
Flav.: Doughy yeast, coriander, lightly fruity, slight wheat and hay; reasonably sweet with a little bitterness and a touch of alcohol.
I prefer the Brune, but this is acceptable. GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 25, 2009 Leave it to the Canadians to screw up a good brew. I’m kidding. It is a fairly standard Belgian blonde now with a lot of spice. Mint and lemon are most predominant. Not bad, it just isn’t amazing. I enjoy the regular La Chouffe better. thornecb (1736), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Aug 24, 2009 Pours gold into a tulip. Off-white head quickly crackles and dissipates to hug rim. Sweet caramel and sour yeast aromas. Thin and peppery from front to back. Slight mellow clove in the lasting alcohol finish. punkska101 (93), Chambly, Quebec, Canada Aug 21, 2009 bottle 341 ml : 09.08.21 pours hazy golden in color, head don’t last long. Spices dominate the nose. Cloves can be detected. Medium body, lively carbonation. Average bittermess well balance with a touch of sweeteness. Citrusy yobdoog (1426), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Aug 17, 2009 Floral and citrus aroma with some spice. Flavor has some yeast and wheat with some spice. Nice and drinkable, balanced and not overly complex. Lanchester (18), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 31, 2009 Pours a hazy and lively golden color with a quickly dissipating white head. It is an effervescent beer with an aroma of citrus, spices, and some yeasty/bready undertones. Has a smooth mouth feel which is offset but not overpowered by a mild attack of spice and alcohol. Finishes clean with pleasant herbal traces lingering on the palate. Easy to drink, and overall a pretty good beer. rodenbach99 (678), Longueuil, Quebec, Canada Feb 23, 2009 660ml brown bottle, brewed under licence of La Chouffe in Belgium,
