Light, lemony yellow with average creamy, long-lasting white head - very attractive lacing. In-glass bubbling action lasted the distance - nice. Aroma was pleasing and straightforward - ashy, hops, lots of tart citrus & coriander - not overpowered by the alcohol at all. Pleasant taste - lemon,, some tart wine, quick-diminishing; like a soft trippel. Soft, slick mouthfeel, not sweet on the palate, acidic citrus-lemon, but quite appropriate. weepingsuds (222), Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Jul 1, 2005 Bottle from Belgium. NOt sure where all the rave reviews are coming for, but in my eye this should not even where the title belgian strong ale. One of the worst I have had. The alcohol is not hidden well and almost has a chemical bite. This is just BAD!!! 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 11, 2005 Bottle: Pale yellow, cloudy, almost witbier like, large foamy white head, spotty lacing. Spicy nose, corriander, citrus, slightly malty/bready. Wheaty/bready start, spicy, slight phenols, background of corriander and citrus peel. Fairly average body, but full mouthfeel. Dry finish, wheaty, lingering spices, appearance of pepper. More of a Belgian witbier than Belgian Strong. Tasty none the less. Thanks Jeff!

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 1, 2005 Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy dark yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is
moderately malty (cookie, toasted light bread), moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs, lemon), lightly yeasty
(cobwebs), with notes of coriander, banana, pineapple, honey, clove. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic,
lightly bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. A fair bit sweeter than La Chouffe, but a very nice strong Belgian golden. Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA

Strong, spicy aroma with coriander, along with hints of orange, pepper and sweet malt. Sweet, not cloyingly sweet, but still very sweet. Lush & soft mouthfeel. Lean, spice diversity (coriander), (orange peel?,) A tasty, well made interpretation of La Chouffe. GonZoBeeR (2161), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Apr 15, 2005 Bottle. Lightly troubled golden color with no head. Lightly spicy and yeast aroma. Astringent and lightly acidic taste, spicy finish, not very tasty. Tought this beer was better than that.
